13 – 16 November 2008
Port Macquarie NSW
2007 saw the 2nd inaugural Equal Golden Bean Roaster’s Competition in the coastal town of Port Macquarie. With over 380 coffees for tasting, it is now the biggest coffee roasters’ competition in the southern hemisphere.
The overall winner was Arabica Coffee, from Queensland. Other category winners included Coffeesnobs.com.au for best filter coffee, Art of Espresso — Caffe Royale for best retail coffee, Hennessy Coffee for best milk based, Bun Coffee for number 1 espresso and Beans Coffee Roastery (Beans & Bagels) for best organic filter.
The Equal Golden Bean has been a huge success for the coffee industry and the praise for this style of event has been positive.
Equal will again be proudly supporting the event in late 2008 at the beautiful coastal town of Port Macquarie.
This year the 3 day event will kick off with a welcoming Cocktail Event. Over the weekend 360 coffees will be under the tongue, tasted and tested by industry judges to find Australia’s best Aussie coffee roaster.
The six categories to be judged include Australian Grown, Espresso, Milk Based, Organic, Retail and Filter.
Also included in the program will be a special guest speaker and many free exciting workshops. An awards dinner will conclude The Equal Golden Bean Roaster Competition where we’ll find out who has taken out the title of Australia’s best coffee roaster.
